Maldon is an English company, based in County Essex, and has been producing Maldon salt since 1882. Maldon salt is a true culinary joy and is produced following an ancient method.
At high tide, they take in the seawater and let it rest for a while to filter it afterwards. They then bring it to a boil and let it simmer over low heat. During this process, small empty pyramids are formed. The cristals are separated with a wooden rake, they are drained and subsequently placed on a plate to put in the oven where the salt will dry completely.
Finally the salt is inspected manually and packed to distribute globally.
Maldon salt is an exquisite salt flower. Its production process remains artisan. It’s an entirely natural product with high nutrition value.
Its main characteristics are its smooth cristals with their ‘flake-like’ shape and the fact that unlike other types of salt, it doesn’t leave a bitter aftertaste.
Its delicate wood fragrance is obtained through an artisan smoking process which relies on the use of English oak wood, respecting however the environmental sustainability program of the British Forestry Council.
